What is Wild Voices?

Wild Voices draws on the fundamentals of what it is to be human - to sound and walk in nature! Offering you the tools to access the free resources that are available to all of us, Wild Voices seeks to create transformational experiences that help support our wellbeing.

Movement and breath-work are woven into the fabric of every session, helping us to relax and truly connect with our bodies so that we can access our most authentic singing voice.

Sessions are held as often as possible outside - on the land, in the woods and by the sea, because I believe in the power of nature to heal and connect.

Think forest bathing meets vocal resonance in all its forms. The spoken, the sung, the roar. Through a playful approach to vocal teaching, Wild Voices offers you an opportunity to root down, dig deep and connect with your true voice.

The Vision

We believe that connecting people with the land in creative ways will help create a deeper understanding of why our natural spaces are important and why we need to protect them. In the words of Rob Hopkins, Founder of Transition Town Totnes and writer of From What is to What If, ‘People don’t need knew facts - they need a new story . . . change their story and change their behaviour.’

Healing the planet with our collective voice!

Claire Shaw

I am a vocalist, creative workshop leader and arts education professional with over 20 years of arts education experience cultivated in organisations both in the UK and USA. I obtained a BA in Music from Leeds College of Music (2002) graduating with honours in voice, cello, and Indian improvisation.

I specialise in playful approaches to music and story making and at the heart of my practice is the belief in the power of the human voice. Listening to voices and affirming creative ideas has been the focus of my career, and I use character and emotion to inspire sound and bring people together.

I am committed to the pursuit of connecting vocal exploration with movement and nature to support both physical and mental health. My life experiences have been varied and colourful and I draw on training and teaching in yoga and mindfulness, jazz and folk, weaving my knowledge and skills gained as a Level 3 Forest School Leader and primary music teacher into all my work.

I began my career as an opera singer, but arts education was where my heart lay and this led me to Wigmore Hall. From there I crossed an ocean to work at The Metropolitan Opera and their innovative education department, venturing further west when the time was right to San Francisco to manage the San Francisco Boys Chorus and work with the San Francisco Opera.

Currently based in Dorset, my diverse practice encompasses vocal teaching, workshop-leading, mentoring and research. I teach across many genres and take a holistic approach to vocal exploration and nature connection to help people live their fullest lives.
